The 24th Winter Olympic Games was officially held in Beijing on February 4, 2022. Different from previous human-oriented services, high-tech became the biggest highlight of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Hundreds of smart robots are on duty to undertake epidemic prevention and control and provide contactless services including patrol, delivery, sterilize and so on. In this article, let’s take a look at what smart robots have been used and how they boost high-tech Winter Olympics.

Smart Torch Relay

On the afternoon of February 2, the torch relay of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games was held in Beijing Winter Olympic Park and Shougang Park. It was the first time in Olympic history that the torch relay was completed by smart robots underwater.

Smart Epidemic Prevention
Epidemic prevention is considered the top priority for the Games. Given this, the Winter Olympic Venue has adopted smart robots including atomized disinfection robot and UV disinfection robot to make disinfection work, as a response to do well in epidemic prevention. The staff only needs to add the disinfectant into the smart robot in advance every day, which will perform the disinfection task at the designated time.

Smart Logistics
In terms of goods delivery, the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympic Games uses smart logistics robots to realize single terminal contactless delivery. In the buffer zone inside and outside the closed-loop of the Olympic Venues, the outdoor smart logistics robot is responsible for transporting large items and ensuring the needed materials for personnel inside the closed-loop. Workers can simply place the goods on the logistics robot, which will deliver them to the delivery station and unload the goods according to designed routes, and greatly reduce human contact.

Smart Services

For providing better services, different kinds of smart service robots can also be seen in the stadium. The disinfecting robot is mainly responsible for cleaning and disinfecting large public, and the reception robots provide user-friendly services to athletes. The smart robot with cutting-edge technology can carry out human body detection, long-distance identity identification, voice broadcast, greeting, positioning, path planning, obstacle avoidance, elevator congestion perception, and other functions. When people approach the robot, it will be awakened and make man-machine interaction.

Smart Canteen
When it comes to dining, you can see the smart canteen in the Olympic village where machines replace people to become the main force of service. The smart restaurant covers an area of 5,400 square meters with accommodation of more than 1,700 people. The smart robots can achieve the all-in-one process from ordering, making to serving food with 24-hour operation a day. To meet the different payment habits of people from different countries, credit card payment and mobile payment are supported to facilitate ordering.

Telpo Robot R55

With the mission of creating a colorful future, Telpo entered the AI robot industry in 2021 and developed a series of smart robots related to contactless delivery, temperature screening, face recognition, mask detection, disinfection.
The built-in SLAM multi-sensor with laser, visual and ultrasonic positioning& navigation allow the Telpo robot to automatic obstacles avoidance and realize a high-precision position, which is ready to use after it matched the application environment for the first time. The simple deployment comes with easy to use control panel that makes you flexible to adjust service routes and methods.

There is no doubt that the smart robots are good to save manpower, reducing cross-contact between people, providing 24-hour service, minimizing the cost of epidemic prevention and the probability of epidemic transmission, and boosting the high-tech Winter Olympics. Empowered by science and technology, the Winter Olympics will not only be a battlefield for athletes, but also a debut of advanced technology.
