Tokyo Olympics Plans to Forge Cashless Payment Environment

In the run-up to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Telpo, as a global payment terminal partner, is preparing to provide a series of smart payment terminals with its advantages for athletes, visitors, and citizens, in support of the government's "Cashless Japan" initiative.

There is only one of the fifth digital payment carried out in Japan, the third-largest economy in the world. Comparable markets have much higher rates of digital payments including South Korea (90 percent), China (70 percent) and the U.S. (60 percent). Under such condition, Japan's government is launching the "Cashless Japan" initiative aims to achieve doubling digital payments to 40 percent of all transactions in the country by 2025.
