Development of Telpo POS: From Follower to Leader

Aug.31,2023Reads:

It has been 145 years since the first cash register was born. Nowadays, cash registers not only record data and supervise cashiers but also obtain many other functions like accepting payments, enhancing business management, etc. Telpo, as a smart terminal and solution provider, the smart cash registers it launched also experienced an iterative development process. At the same time,  Telpo jumped from being a follower to being a leader in the POS hardware industry.

Development of Telpo Point-of-Sale terminals

In terms of smart cash registers, Telpo has a rich customization experience. As early as 2014, Telpo conducted its first desktop smart POS customization project for the world-renowned brand, Wanda Group. Subsequently, in 2016 and 2018, Telpo cooperated with Meituan and Alibaba successively. By virtue of high hardware quality and low annual failure rate, Telpo won wide recognition and established strategic cooperation relations with industry giants.

Accelerating plentiful experience in customization projects, Telpo began self-developing smart cash registers. In 2018, Telpo officially launched its first desktop Android POS, TPS650. The TPS650 integrates the commonly-used functions in cashier scenarios and supports receipt printing, NFC payment, etc. Soon afterward, Telpo has been catching up with the latest technological trends, and launched the 2-generation POS terminal 680 in 2020, the 3-generation device C1 in 2021, and the 4-generation terminal C8 in 2023.

The development of Telpo POS terminals shows the following features.

1. Appearance: From bulky to stylish

The most obvious feature is that the appearance of Telpo desktop POS terminals is becoming slimmer and less bulky. The latest Android desktop POS C8 adopts a sleek design and is more in line with modern business decoration. The hidden-cable management design reduces the clutters on the checkout counter and keeps it tidy. More business operators and merchants are attaching more importance to the POS appearance, and Telpo has been dedicated to satisfying customers’ needs from all aspects.

2. Performance: From low to high

As chip scheme technology develops, the performance of Telpo POS hardware is equipped with higher configuration. The initial Telpo desktop POS terminal TPS650 runs on Android 7 OS, which is far from enough to satisfy the demands of customers currently. By contrast, the latest-launched desktop terminal Telpo C8 can be upgraded to Android 13 OS with an Octa-Core CPU, which delivers a quick processing speed and smooth user experience.

3. Payment methods: From less to more

The payment methods supported by the initial smart cash registers are limited, which may be adequate in the age when mobile payments were not popular. During the continuous development and improvement of Telpo smart cash registers, the Telpo C8 applies a modular design of payment functions. This latest POS terminal makes customers get access to the current mainstream contactless payment methods, including card payments, barcode scanning and face recognition. The users can flexibly select the payment options they require.

4. Screen options: From single to flexible

Though the TPS650 adopts a dual-screen design of “15.6-inch + 15.6-inch”, it’s too limited for all application scenarios. To meet more demands of customers operating different businesses, the latest Android desktop POS launched by Telpo offers 4 screen options. Customers can select the most suitable one from the screen options of 15.6-inch single screen, 15.6-inch + 15.6-inch dual screen, 15.6-inch + 10.1-inch dual screen, and 15.6-inch + LED. The rich customer-facing screen options can make the Telpo C8 applied in all cashier scenarios.

5. Packaging: From high to cost-effective

The storage and transport fees are an issue that customers pay attention. In order to let customers purchase smart cash registers without worries, Telpo has made great efforts in product shape design and packaging. In addition to making the device as thin as possible during the product design phase, Telpo minimizes shipping costs by optimizing packaging volume and weight. Compared to ordinary packaging, the packaging on the Telpo C8 helps add more than 60% to container capacity.

The driving forces behind the development of Telpo POS terminals are technical advancement, growing cashier demands, and Telpo’s original intention to create a colorful future for people.

1. Technical advancement

The development of Telpo Android POS terminals relies on advancing technology. The chip and touchscreen technology is consistently developing, which is the basis for Telpo to improve its smart cash registers. To deliver the most advanced products and services to customers, Telpo keeps catching up with the latest technology and applies it to devices.

2. Growing cashier demands

The cashier demands are growing as the payment habits of people change. We have stepped into the age of digitalization. The popularity of digital payments like card payments, QR code payments, digital wallets, etc., makes business operators have to deal with payments made by diversified methods. They have to introduce new technology to meet the growing payment-acceptance demands.

3. Telpo’s initial intention

Creating a colorful future has been the mission of Telpo for years. It’s this mission that impels Telpo to continuously improve its products to meet the growing demands of users. Keeping this initial intention of creating a colorful future, Telpo puts customer interests first and mobilizes all resources to meet customer needs.
