LFD Used in 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games

In Tokyo, on September 28th, 2018, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department held a security exercise for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nearly 1,000 volunteers participated in or visited this exercise.

The Volunteer is using face recognition machines.

The exercise was designed to test the effectiveness of the security identification system to be used at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic venues to ensure the safety of athletes, staff, and spectators. The system is mainly composed of two parts: face recognition and vehicle monitoring technology. The exercises of the day mainly focused on these two parts.

The Volunteer is using face recognition machines.

The participants of the Olympic Games played by the volunteers lined up in front of the camera of the face recognition system. After the system was successfully authenticated, the items and personal security were carried out. Two people arranged by the organizers did not pass the system certification, and one of them played a gangster, holding a knife against security. The security guard requested police reinforcements through the communication system and evacuated the site personnel. The reinforcement police carried police dogs to arrest the "gangsters."

The second half of the exercise was the vehicle monitoring system.

The Tokyo Olympics will open on July 24, 2020, and the Paralympic Games will open on August 25 of that year. More than 300,000 athletes and staff members are required to submit facial photos and keep them in the Olympic Games database. With the vast database of facial photos, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics surely will be held in great safety.
